This March, hundreds of dealers across Canada will work together to raise awareness of positive driving habits in their local communities and ask customers to take the pledge against distracted driving. Will you be one of them?
DISTRACTED DRIVING IS A FACTOR IN OVER 4 MILLION VEHICLE CRASHES IN NORTH AMERICA EACH YEAR.1
However the majority of people that haven’t experienced a crash due to distracted driving mistakenly believe that they can safely multitask behind the wheel.2
Auto Dealers Against Distracted Driving aims to educate and encourage behavioural change with drivers at the community level.
As dealerships are one of the first points of contact for a driver, you’re in a unique position to influence your customers driving behaviours before they leave the lot.
Distracted driving is a behavioural problem and the act of taking a pledge and making a "pre-commitment" can be an effective psychological strategy for habit breaking.3
The campaign goal this year is to reach 20,000 pledges through DistractionFree.ca from March 1-31.
Every pledge against distracted driving will result in $1 donation towards education and research on road safety. All proceeds will go to the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), Canada'a road safety research institute.
